For any orientation to a subject ,we firstly need to ascertain the reference point, for it is the way of how to address the orientation, then we can select this reference point as benchmark and find the correct position of where the subject can stay. The Education Technology is a cross subject of education and technology and the reference point for its orientation has been supported by at least two different recognitions:One is to take the reference point of Education Technology as education science,and the other recognition is to select engineering as the reference point of Education Technology . The former treats Education Technology as the technology in education and selects the related technologies according to the need of education;The latter takes Education Technology to be a practical area for engineering technology, which means we can seek a practical method of it in education by judging the feature of the technology itself. We can see that with different reference points of subject orientation,we get different research directions, goals and emphases. We say the Education Technology is to use the technology in education and the reference point of this subject is education science, and the research direction is to optimize the process of education and instruction, the goal is to enhance the learning of learners, and we ought to enhance learning by creating, using and managing the technological process and resources of education. If we take Education Technology as engineering technology applied in Education, it is obvious that we are taking the engineering as the reference point for Education Technology and turn the research direction to create and perfect the technology and raise the value of technology applying. It will set up a goal to expand the area of technology applying and chase mainly about to seek the objective, impact and the best way of how to apply technology in education. In 1986,when the committee for learning degree of National Department of China came to examine and approve the first party of authority of universities for trial to cultivate post-graduate students of Education Technology,it took the subject of Education Technology as one of the second level subjects which belonged to pedagogy. This orientation is correct and catches our sight at the education feature of Education Technology.
